Everedy Square will be the site of the Teddy Bear Picnic on June 11th, 2011.   Families with small children will find this a fun event.   The Everedy Teddy will be there to add to the fun.

  • Picnic on the lawn behind Frederick Coffee Company from 12 to 1:00.   Bring your own lunch or buy a kid-friendly box lunch at the Coffee Co.

  • Bring your favorite bear to enter the bear competition.   Register your bear at 2:15 to 3:00 pm to win one of these prizes:

    • Best Dressed
    • Most Worn Out
    • Best Vintage (20+ years old)

  • There will be Children’s entertainment by Ray Own, Balloon Sculptures, Pony Rides, A Moon Bounce and Face Painting.   Sounds like lots of Fun!

The shops and restaurants will be celebrating Art on Saturday, June 4 in downtown Frederick.   Many shops are open late and there will be artists and craftsmen on hand for demonstrations and exhibits. If you appreciate art, come on out for what is sure to be a great time.

  • Car lovers will enjoy seeing British Marque cars throughout Everedy Square & Shab Row with owners from the Clustered Spires British Car Club available for a chat.
  • Shab Row & Everedy Square  will be the location of lots of children’s activities, free trolley rides, and live music.
  • In downtown Frederick there will be Plein-Air painting exhibitions at several locations on Market Street and Patrick Street.   There will be live music in several places on Market and Patrick Streets.
  • There will be group art projects for the public to participate in:  *The Community Art Car at 100 East Street, (bring your own found objects to decorate the car)   *Help create murals at Green Turtle.
  • And of course, you can’t miss the 18th annual  Festival of the Arts  all along Carroll Creek.   This event takes place both Saturday and Sunday and is free this year.   You’ll see more than visual artists from around the country, performing artists and there will be lots of children’s activities.

Saturday May 7th is the First Saturday Gallery Walk in downtown Frederick’s Historic District.   During “Mayfest“, there are several events taking place that promise to make the day memorable.

  • Many downtown stores are offering a free flower; you can build a boquet as you go from store to store.   Afterward, you can finish your bouquet with a wrap, water and bow for $3 at En Masse, 141 N. Market Street.

  • The Frederick Basket Company is having a wine tasting featuring Solomon’s Island Winery.

  • There will be an antique car show at Everedy Square, and a Camaro Car show on Patrick Street between Carroll & Market.

  • WFMD & WFRE will have lots of giveaways in front of Brewer’s Alley.

  • Many children’s activities, including decorating a bandana with the Humane Society, making bird feeders and butterflies, sidewalk chalk art competition and a pottery demonstration.

  • Several live performances throughout the day and throughout downtown.

  • Downtown Galleries will have exhibits.

  • Lots of special sales and demonstrations.

  • Bark in the Park – This is the 5th annual Bark in the Park at Utica District Park in Thurmont Md, located on Old Frederick Road. There will be an agility course and booths set up with doggy products.   Get training tips and techniques. $5 per dog, register early or there.   Bring collar, leash and proof of rabies vaccinations.         Contact: (301) 600-2936
  • Grand Opening of England Acres Farmers Market.   5620 Detrick Road
    Mount Airy, MD 21771.   Located on the corner of Detrick Road and 144 (Old National Pike)   from 10 am to 6 pm

  • Frederick Running Festival is this weekend.   It is too late to register now, but check the website and make plans for next year.
